A flight operated by Lufthansa turned into chaos after a passenger attempted to open the aircraft door at an altitude of 30,000 feet.
Crew members clashed with the man who tried to open the door of a Boeing 787 mid-flight from Bogotá to Frankfurt, and with the help of other passengers, they managed to subdue him and force him away from the aircraft door.
This allowed the flight to continue according to its scheduled timetable, according to the Mirror newspaper.
The police greeted the plane upon its landing in Frankfurt, where the man, aged 33, was arrested.
A police spokesperson said: "Due to his condition, the man was transferred to a psychiatric hospital," and criminal proceedings have begun against him on suspicion of endangering air traffic.
