Now we have a clear position regarding what is said about Chinese technology used by the Houthis in its operations inside and outside Yemen. Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah Al-Zouba said the day before yesterday (Wednesday) that the Yemeni government discussed with the Chinese side the use of Chinese technology by the Iranian terrorist Houthi militia in manufacturing weapons, noting that Beijing has shown a keenness to investigate the matter.
Al-Zuba explained that the discussions dealt with the Houthis’ use of Chinese technology in making weapons, as part of efforts aimed at discussing this issue with the Chinese side. She added that Beijing's expression of interest in investigating the matter reflects its response to what was raised during the discussions.
It is hasty to say that there is direct and explicit Chinese support for the Houthi operations and its missile and intelligence capabilities in a blatant manner, but there has been Chinese embrace of Iran for a long time, despite the fact that Beijing has maintained its distance from some of the actions of the Iranian regime, especially regarding the issue of closing the Strait of Hormuz, or its attempt to do so. It was recently reported to us that Beijing informed Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf of its objection to this policy before the Iranian official visited it.
Last September 13, I wrote here: Is it possible to create a clear, unified, advanced Gulf position with China, the bottom line of which is to expose the Gulf harms caused by direct Iranian aggression, or through proxies in Iraq and Yemen?!
She added that the Gulf group is not required to put the choice between Iran and the Arab Gulf states before the Chinese decision; It is not possible to dictate to the Chinese global giant, not to mention China’s own interests with Iran, and Iran’s position in the map of Chinese influence between Asia, the Middle East, and later Europe... But what is required is to truly take Beijing’s Gulf interests into consideration, and implement Chinese influence to prevent direct and indirect Iranian harm to the Arab Gulf states, which are China’s friends, and between them there are many interests... If this had happened, the picture would have been very different.
Is it possible to develop the recent Yemeni position, build on it, and take it a step further, according to the limits I mentioned above?!
For example: Following up on China’s pledge - according to the words of the Yemeni Foreign Minister - to investigate the presence of advanced Chinese technologies with the Houthis, which they use in their missiles, and to determine the coordinates towards the Yemeni sites, and perhaps also Saudi Arabia and the Gulf?!
This is an important point, and I am not saying that if Chinese support stopped - if it was definitely proven - whether this support was direct or through the Iranian intermediary, or through arms dealers; If this artery were stopped, the Houthi threat would end, but it would not develop and expand in the manner that we have observed in the recent period.
This work comes in the context of dismantling the Houthi military building, stone by stone, then after it or with it, the political, intellectual and social building... This is a necessary starting point for crossing to the other side; The “Dawn of Yemen” bank and its pride.
