- Egyptian director Kamla Abu Zekry criticized the production of series and films about “serial killers” and murders, and said that this may be the reason for their “more spread.” Kamla wrote in a blog post she posted on her personal Facebook page on Tuesday: “Series and films about serial killers and murders, and retellings of horrific crimes, may be the reason for their greater spread, and may lead to a state of habit and excitement for committing such crimes.”
She pointed out that there are many examples of young people who did what they saw in those films, and added: “I find no sense in presenting this type of American drama, and I do not understand the justification for its spread or its meaning.” The Egyptian director is preparing a series project about the late Egyptian thinker, author, and doctor Mustafa Mahmoud, for the Ramadan 2027 drama season, under the title “Between Doubt and Certainty,” from a script and dialogue by Mohamed Hisham Obaiya, and starring the actor Hamza Al-Aili.
