On Thursday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received a phone call from his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Ati, during which they discussed regional developments and the attacks that targeted Abha and King Khalid airports in the Kingdom. According to the official Saudi News Agency "SPA", during the call, Abdel Aty expressed Egypt's condemnation "in the strongest terms" of the attacks that targeted the two airports, stressing that this escalation and the attacks that affected Saudi territory represent "a destabilization and security of the region as a whole."
The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed Egypt's "full solidarity with the Kingdom," stressing that his country stands by Saudi Arabia in the face of everything that might threaten its security, stability, and territorial integrity. The two ministers also discussed regional developments, and the importance of making the necessary efforts and continuing coordination between the two countries, in a way that contributes to supporting security and stability in the region, according to SPA.
On Thursday, the “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen” led by Saudi Arabia announced the interception and destruction of 3 ballistic missiles launched by the Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthi group towards Riyadh and Khamis Mushait. For his part, the official spokesman for the Saudi Civil Defense said, “The Civil Defense began falling fragments of a ballistic missile in the city of Riyadh after intercepting and destroying it. It was launched by the terrorist Houthi militia, resulting in material damage to a kindergarten and a medical clinic complex. The procedures adopted in such cases have been implemented.”
In a statement, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh called on travelers to communicate directly with air carriers and check the status of flights before heading to the airport.
