On Tuesday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty reiterated Egypt's solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the face of the attacks targeting its territory by the Houthis.
Abdel-Ati affirmed Cairo’s readiness to respond to any Saudi request for support, whatever its form, “including military support,” stressing that the Kingdom’s national security is an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security.
He also said in an interview with Bloomberg Network that Egypt provides various forms of support and solidarity to Saudi Arabia “without any reservation,” adding: “We will provide various forms of solidarity and support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, because we cannot accept aggressions or attacks on Saudi territory.”
While he stressed Egypt's condemnation of the attacks targeting the Kingdom's territory, he continued: "We cannot accept, under any justification or under any circumstances, these attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia, or any form of violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia." He continued: "We stand firmly by Saudi Arabia, because we cannot accept aggressions or attacks on its lands or on the lands of any Arab country."
In addition, Abdel Ati pointed out the necessity of working to reduce the escalation in the entire region, given that it is “facing an extremely tense situation,” in light of the escalation related to Iran, in addition to the crises in Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Lebanon, and Syria, in addition to the Palestinian issue, which he described as “the core of the conflict in the region.”
The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed that Cairo's main goal is to work to reduce escalation and calm tensions, stressing that "the only way out of this crisis is political and diplomatic solutions."
Abdel Ati's statements came in light of widespread international condemnation of the Houthi attacks on Saudi territory, as the UN Security Council and Arab and Western countries previously stressed their rejection of these attacks and their full solidarity with the Kingdom.
