France condemns the settlers' attack on a French mayor and diplomats and demands that the aggressors be held accountable

Paris - Ofoq News - The spokesman for the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Pascal Confavreux, issued today a statement regarding an attack by settlers on the mayor of a French municipality and representatives of diplomatic missions in the village of Taybeh in the West Bank.

Paris - Ofoq News - France strongly condemned the attack committed by violent settlers against the mayor of Aulnoye-Aymeries in the Palestinian village of Taybeh.

Representatives of a number of diplomatic missions, including the French Consul General in Jerusalem and his Belgian and Polish counterparts, were also targeted and harassed during this attack. France expresses its support and solidarity with them, and reaffirms its firm adherence to their mission.

France called on the Israeli authorities to arrest the perpetrators of this extremely serious attack and bring them to justice. The Israeli authorities must also take all necessary measures to put an end to these acts of intimidation and ensure the security of the civilian population and diplomatic missions, in accordance with their obligations under international law.

France renewed its condemnation of the settlement policy. Settlement is in violation of international law, constitutes a grave violation of the rights of Palestinians, threatens the stability of the West Bank and undermines the two-state solution.
