Egyptian actress Hala Sedqy sparked an interaction on social media, following her recent statements in which she revealed part of the behind-the-scenes filming of kissing scenes in the cinema, and her talk about her opinion on the comparison between the artists Ahmed Al-Awadi and Mohamed Ramadan.
During her meeting with Iraqi journalist Nizar Al-Fares, on Friday, Hala Sidqi touched on the scenes of filming kissing scenes in the cinema, explaining that filming cinematic scenes may take a long time, even if they appear in their final form for only a few seconds, due to the requirements of directing, adjusting camera angles, lighting, and repeating filming to reach the desired result.
Hala Sedqi talked about the scenes of one of the scenes she had with the late actor Ahmed Zaki in the movie “The Escape,” after the scene of a kiss between them raised questions about the nature of the relationship and the feelings that appeared in front of the camera. She explained that the scene did not carry any personal emotional connotations between them, but rather came in implementation of the director’s vision and the requirements of the character presented by Ahmed Zaki.
She also pointed out that "the scene reflected the condition of a man released from prison, trying to regain his sense of life and freedom after years of deprivation," stressing that "the kiss was part of the dramatic expression of that condition."
On the other hand, Hala Sedqi rejected the comparison between actors Mohamed Ramadan and Ahmed Al-Awadi, using the expression “Comparison is forbidden.” However, she indicated her preference to follow the work of Mohamed Ramadan, based on his precedence in the artistic career, as he began his career years before Ahmed Al-Awadi.
These statements came within the framework of recurring discussions about Egyptian drama stars, their different artistic experiences and professional paths, and the extent of the influence of precedence in shaping the audience’s choices.
Egyptian actress Hala Sedqy is considered one of the prominent faces in cinema and drama. She began her artistic career in the late 1970s. Over the course of her decades-long career, she performed various roles between comedy and tragedy, and cooperated with a number of major artists and directors, including the late artist Ahmed Zaki and director Youssef Chahine.
Hala Sidqi also participated in a number of prominent films, including “Don’t Ask Me Who I Am,” “The Escape,” “Oh My World, My Love,” “Alexandria, New York,” “It’s Chaos,” and “A Day for Women.”
On television, she participated in the series “Arabesque,” “Zezenia,” “Wannous,” and “Afaret Adly Allam.” She also achieved a popular presence in recent works, most notably “Faten Amal Harbi” in 2022 and “Jaafar Al-Omda” in 2023, with actor Mohamed Ramadan.
