Hamad bin Jassim comments on the Security Council resolution regarding Western Sahara.. What did he say about Morocco and Algeria?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Former Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim described the UN Security Council’s decision to adopt Morocco’s proposal to grant Western Sahara autonomy as an “important development,” calling for Arab efforts to resolve the dispute with Algeria. Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said, in his account on the X platform, on Saturday: “The decision taken by the Security Council on Friday to grant Western Sahara real autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty is an important development for Morocco and the Arab world.”

The wisdom, wisdom, and exceptional management of the King of Morocco have brought matters to this good result.” Sheikh Hamad added, “The call made by the King for constructive dialogue with Algeria is also a good initiative that must be built on, and the Arab countries must take the initiative to help bring the views closer between the two brotherly neighboring countries, because there is no difference between the two countries, but rather negative accumulations that must be eliminated for the benefit of the two peoples.”

He continued: "I find in the Moroccan king's call for dialogue with Algeria an opportunity that should not be missed, as we see that several Arab countries are being torn apart, as is happening in Sudan and Yemen, and other Arab countries are threatened with division. Let what the situation has reached in Morocco regarding Western Sahara be an example, and let the Arab world, God willing, be united in its positions to help bring the views of Morocco and Algeria closer together, not divide them."

On Friday, the UN Security Council adopted a US draft resolution supporting Morocco's 2007 proposal to grant Western Sahara autonomy under its sovereignty. This is rejected by Algeria and the Polisario Front, which want to hold a referendum on the right to self-determination for the Sahrawi people.
