Hezbollah denied any connection or association with the cell that Syrian authorities announced they had arrested yesterday, Tuesday, in the Yarmouk Basin area in Daraa Governorate, affirming that it has no presence in Syrian territory and no links to any security or military activities there.

The party emphasized in a statement issued by its media relations today, Wednesday, its commitment to the security, stability, and safety of the Syrian people, calling on the official Syrian authorities to verify the backgrounds of what it described as allegations aimed at stirring tension between the two countries.

Syrian authorities announced yesterday that they had thwarted what they described as a sabotage plan in the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa and arrested a cell that they clarified was affiliated with Hezbollah. They added that the operation was carried out by the General Intelligence Directorate in cooperation with internal security forces, according to the Syrian news agency "SANA."

They also clarified that the cell included three individuals, and that security forces thwarted an attempt to prepare platforms for launching rockets with the aim of carrying out attacks and destabilizing security and stability. They pointed out that the platforms were completely dismantled and investigations with the detainees are ongoing in preparation for referring them to the competent judiciary.

The operation comes in the Yarmouk Basin area, located in the western countryside of Daraa near the borders with Jordan and the Golan, which has witnessed repeated Israeli movements in recent times.

On September 25, the authorities in Damascus reported the incursion of an Israeli force consisting of three vehicles into the Wadi al-Ruqad area, and gunfire was directed at a shepherd and his children without any injuries, according to what was reported by "SANA."

In July, Israeli forces infiltrated with several vehicles from the direction of the Al-Jazeera barracks towards the village of Ma'riya, and positioned themselves on the road leading to it, before opening the road towards the village of Al-Arda and searching several homes. Reports at the time indicated that the movement came after a similar incursion the previous day, which included the establishment of a military checkpoint inside Al-Arda and the distribution of leaflets warning residents against obstructing the movements of the forces.

The area also witnessed an Israeli incursion in June that reached the village of Abidin, where several homes were searched, as part of a series of military movements that have recurred in the villages of the Yarmouk Basin throughout this year.

The announcement of the cell adds to the tense security scene in southern Syria, at a time when the Hezbollah group denies any presence within Syrian territory or any connection to the cell that Damascus announced it had arrested, while Syrian authorities say that the operation came as part of their movements to pursue what they describe as networks linked to foreign entities.
