A member of the political bureau of the Iran-backed Houthi group in Yemen, Dhaif Allah al-Shami, commented on the announcement by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen regarding the group's targeting of a power station in Medina. Al-Shami denied in a statement reported by the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah channel that the city of Medina was targeted, describing it as a "great falsehood against the Yemeni people and an accusation of their honor in belonging to Islam and the sanctities, and its impact on the Yemeni people is more painful than the bombing of planes and the killing of children and women."

The official spokesman for the "Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen" led by Saudi Arabia, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, announced on Thursday the occurrence of what he described as a "terrorist attack" carried out by the Houthis on the Taybah electricity distribution station in Medina. Major General Turki Al-Maliki confirmed in a statement: "A terrorist attack occurred at (05:11) on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, on the (Taybah) electricity distribution station in the city of the Messenger of God - peace be upon him - (Medina)," according to what was reported by the Saudi Press Agency "SPA.",
He added: "The results of the investigation and evidence from the relevant authorities have proven the involvement of the Houthi terrorist militia in planning and executing this cowardly terrorist act, through operational review and remnants of the drone used." Major General Turki Al-Maliki explained that "the terrorist act caused one transformer to go out of service without affecting the electrical network, and that this cowardly terrorist act targeting one of the civilian facilities providing electrical services to the Prophet's Mosque in Medina comes as an extension of this extremist militia's approach in attempts to target the two holy mosques, and continues to deliberately provoke the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world by targeting Mecca and Medina," according to the Saudi Press Agency "SPA."
