No immediate comment has been issued by the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen regarding what the Houthi group announced.
On Saturday morning, the Saudi Civil Defense announced that a person of Asian nationality was injured due to debris from a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group, after it was intercepted, in the governorate of Ahad Rufaida in the Asir region of southern Saudi Arabia.
This comes after the Civil Defense announced on Friday that a projectile launched by the Houthis fell on a school in the city of Najran in southern Saudi Arabia, resulting in material damage without any human injuries.
The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen also announced on the same day the interception and destruction of 4 ballistic missiles that it said the Houthis had launched towards the city of Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia.
On July 20, the Houthi group announced a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia, stating that the move was in response to what it describes as a Saudi maritime and aerial siege on the areas it controls in Yemen.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been leading a military coalition to support the Yemeni government in its fight against the Houthi forces, which are accused of receiving Iranian support and have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and several provinces since September 2014.
The Houthi group has previously carried out attacks on sites within Saudi Arabia, including energy production facilities, resulting in civilian casualties and material damage.
