- The hills in Dhofar Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman have turned into a purple paradise with vibrant colors as the flowers bloom. In the scene captured by Omani photographer Al-Mu'tasim bin Yahya Al-Barashdi via a drone in the Qaratit area specifically, vast expanses of green hills adorned with purple flowers stand out strongly amidst the foggy atmosphere. (Watch the video above) Al-Barashdi's documentation of the place coincided with the approaching features of the "Sarb" season, which is the name given by the locals to the spring season in Dhofar, starting astronomically in late September each year, according to the official website of the Omani News Agency online.
The Omani said in an interview with Afaq News in Arabic: "This is a time when parts of the Dhofar mountains transform into a completely different scene." The Omani sought to document the scene before its features disappear, explaining: "This beauty is seasonal and does not last long, so I felt it was beautiful to capture this moment in pictures and videos, and to share with people a glimpse of the natural beauty that the Sultanate of Oman is known for."
The vibrant scenes have attracted the attention of tens of thousands of people since the photographer posted them on Instagram at the end of August, while the comments section below the video was filled with questions from users about the location of these hills, eager to visit them. Al-Barashdi confirmed, saying: "This is one of the most beautiful things that can happen to a content creator, that the image becomes a reason to introduce people to a beautiful place in their country and encourage them to discover it."
The "Sarb" season lasts for three months and ends in December each year, according to the Omani News Agency.
