An explosion was heard on Qeshm Island in Iran on Sunday, while authorities have not yet issued a clarification regarding the nature or causes of the explosions.

Local sources reported that the sound of the explosion was heard from the sea, according to the official Iranian news agency "IRNA," which noted that there have been no reports of injuries or damage on the island so far.

Meanwhile, local sources have not provided any additional details regarding the source or nature of the explosions.

It is worth noting that the sounds of explosions in Qeshm have been repeated in recent days, as explosions were heard around the island on several occasions, the latest of which was on Saturday, when the "Mehr" agency reported hearing explosions from the direction of the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that no security incident occurred on the island.

This came hours after the British Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that a tanker was hit by an unknown projectile while sailing in the Strait of Hormuz, causing damage to the engine room, with no injuries reported among the crew or environmental impacts so far.

This coincides with the ongoing tension between Iran and the United States, amid the U.S. naval blockade imposed on Iranian ports, as the Iranian army announced its intention to increase the range of its missiles, while the U.S. administration renewed its warnings and threats regarding the Iranian file.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated its readiness for dialogue through diplomatic channels to reach a solution that ends the conflict that erupted last February, but at the same time emphasized Tehran's readiness to respond to any aggression.

Iran announced that it is studying the U.S. comments on its recent proposal known as the 'Seven-Day Plan', in the latest indication of the continuation of indirect communications between Tehran and Washington, despite the substantial disagreements between the two sides.
