Israel raises alert ahead of elections amid fears of a Hamas attack and escalation with Iran

Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - "Israel Hayom" newspaper reported that the Israeli security establishment is raising the level of alert on various fronts, in anticipation of a possible security escalation as the Israeli elections scheduled for October 27 approach.

The newspaper quoted a security source as saying that there is information indicating that Hamas intends to carry out an attack against Israel, but the details of the possible operation have not yet become clear. According to the report, possible scenarios may include targeting a military site or attempting to kidnap a soldier, without confirming that the attack, if it occurs, will be directly related to the elections.

The report indicated that the Israeli security services have been conducting continuous assessments of the situation in recent days, amid fears of a simultaneous escalation on several fronts, most notably the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Lebanon, in addition to tension with Iran.

Regarding Iran, one of the Israeli concerns is the possibility of a miscalculation of the other party's intentions, which could prompt Tehran to launch an attack if it believes that Israel is preparing a surprise military operation against it.

In this context, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stressed the need to maintain operational readiness on various fronts, stressing the army’s readiness to act against any threat targeting Israeli citizens.
