Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Israeli officials revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to US President Donald Trump to work to advance partial reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, in parallel with American support for him, despite the fact that the twenty-point document stipulates that reconstruction will not be implemented before the Strip is completely disarmed.
In a report published on Monday evening, Israeli Channel 13 quoted Israeli officials as saying that Netanyahu spoke in closed talks about the possibility of allowing reconstruction in a specific area of the Gaza Strip, near the buffer zone.
The report added that Netanyahu promised Trump to work to push for partial reconstruction in the Strip, even though the twenty-point document stipulates that reconstruction should not begin before Gaza is completely disarmed.
On the other hand, the Israeli Prime Minister denied the authenticity of the report, describing it as “completely fake news.”
Trump announces his support for Netanyahu
Yesterday, Trump published a post on his “Truth Social” platform, in which he announced his support for Netanyahu’s re-election, in direct interference in the Israeli electoral scene.
Trump described Netanyahu as "a great warrior and a great partner for peace in the battle against Iran," referring to Iran's threats against Israel and the United States, and questioning the ability of any country to survive while allowing such threats, which he said eventually turn into reality.
Trump wrote that it was only a matter of time before Iran implemented its threats, adding that Iran had been “crushed,” and that the United States would soon complete the mission unless Tehran changed its approach.
He added that if Israel had an inappropriate leader at its head, that is, someone other than Netanyahu, the United States would be forced to accomplish the mission itself, stressing that he was not inclined to do so.
Trump also touched on the internal challenges that Netanyahu faced, and said that he demonstrated strength, courage, and cunning in the face of great opposition, including opposition from within Israel, and that he withstood the pressure and even grew stronger.
The US President added that he saw Netanyahu in the most difficult times, considering that ordinary people would have collapsed under pressure in similar circumstances, but Netanyahu did not break, but rather maintained his strength until today.
Trump concluded his post by saying that this is the type of partner the United States needs in Israel, which he said his country has provided a lot to, adding: “Bibi Netanyahu will never let you down.”
Netanyahu: Trump said he would get the job done only with me
For his part, Netanyahu welcomed Trump's statements, and said that the US President gave him unconditional support, adding: "He said that we accomplished wonderful things together, crushed Iran and the Iranian axis, and removed the immediate threat of nuclear bombs."
Netanyahu continued that there was another task to be accomplished, and said that Trump told him that he would complete it with him alone, adding: “He cannot do this with anyone else.”
About two weeks ago, Trump was asked in an interview whether he believed that the Israelis should give Netanyahu a new term to head the government, but he avoided a direct answer.
Trump said at the time that Israel would not have been able to defend itself against Iranian power had it not been for the United States. When asked again whether Netanyahu should be given another term, given that the interviewer noted that Trump does a lot of work on his behalf, he replied that his primary goal is to help Israel defend itself.
Trump stressed that Iran cannot be allowed to become a nuclear power, saying that its possession of nuclear weapons is unacceptable.
