Jorge Jesus confirmed that he has indeed read the statement issued by Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday, in which the Portugal captain justified his departure from the national team camp.

Jesus, the coach of the Portugal national team, faced questions about the matter again on Wednesday morning while leaving his home, and spoke briefly to the journalists who were waiting for his comment.

Jorge Jesus said: I read the statement, and now, as I do every day, I will head to the federation to work and think about the team and the national team.

Ronaldo had issued a lengthy statement on Tuesday, apologizing for leaving the Portuguese national team camp, and acknowledged that his role as captain of the team should be a mitigating factor for the penalty that will be imposed on him, but he accused coach Jorge Jesus of not keeping his word twice.

The first incident mentioned by Ronaldo relates to the match against Norway, where he warmed up but did not participate, despite being informed in advance about the possibility of playing for about 30 minutes.

The second incident in which the Portugal captain accused his coach of not keeping his word pertains to the press conference that followed, which was related to the upcoming match against Denmark.

Ronaldo stated that Jesus had a document he referred to during his talk with the journalists, and that the team captain agreed to its content, but its preparation, according to his account, was at the request of the coach himself, following a meeting with Simao Coutinho, the sports director of Al-Nassr, and Tiago Craveiro, the former CEO of the Portuguese Football Federation and current strategic advisor to Ronaldo's private company.
