Khartoum Airport Director: No damage due to drone attacks

The director of Khartoum International Airport confirmed today, Monday, that the airport is operating normally, and was not affected by the attacks carried out by drones in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

The airport director said, in statements to Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath, that the airport continues to receive passengers and arrivals, in addition to operating scheduled flights, noting that a number of planes have landed and taken off during the past hours.

He also stressed that the airport did not suffer any damage as a result of the attacks, stressing that work continues normally.

Four people, including three children, were killed in a drone attack near Khartoum Airport in Sudan on Monday, a medical source told Agence France-Presse.

The source, who works at the Omdurman morgue in the Sudanese capital and who requested to remain anonymous, said, “Four bodies arrived, including three children between the ages of two and six years old, who died as a result of the fall of the march in the Emtedad Nasser neighborhood, east of Khartoum.”

A military source also reported on Monday that the army's defenses "shot down marches launched by the militia on Khartoum that were targeting the airport and its surroundings," in reference to the Rapid Support Forces.

Last year, the Sudanese army announced full control of the capital, Khartoum, and its suburbs (i.e. the triangular capital: Khartoum, Omdurman, and Khartoum Bahri) in two main stages in March and May 2025.

Since then, the intensity of the confrontations there has decreased, with marching attacks continuing from time to time by the Rapid Support.

It is noteworthy that the war of marches has escalated over the past months between the army and the Rapid Support alike, in the wake of the continuation of the war that broke out in mid-April 2023.

While the conflict claimed the lives of more than 200,000 people, according to estimates by relief organizations, the war led to the displacement of millions inside and outside the country, and the spread of famine in several regions.
