The Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan entered the conversation following the remarks of art critic Tarek El-Shenawy about the concept of "stardom," after he chose to respond in his own way to El-Shenawy's praise of him, in which he considered that Ramadan represents a model of "stardom," despite not topping the box office revenue list.
Ramadan published a video clip that included El-Shenawy's statements on his official Facebook page, commenting: "Ya Pasha number three number six.. as long as I'm number one in salary, then I'm satisfied, thank God."
He also added: "I'm not greedy.. I'm Ashmawy," referring to the name of the series he is preparing to present during the upcoming Ramadan season.
El-Shenawy had touched on the concept of "stardom" in radio statements, saying: "When you talk about stardom, the correct model might be Mohamed Ramadan," explaining that "stardom," in his view, is not only related to achieving the highest revenues, but also to the ability to attract the audience and maintain demand for the artist even if they face a professional setback.
He pointed out that Mohamed Ramadan is not in first place in Egyptian cinema revenues, estimating his rank in this regard to be third or fourth, but on the other hand, he occupies the first place in terms of demand for him, as well as in terms of salary, according to his estimation.
He added that "the logical result of artistic defeat is a decrease in the artist's salary, but this did not apply to Ramadan, who still enjoys high demand, which is also evident in the advertising field."
It is worth mentioning that the last cinematic work of artist Mohamed Ramadan is the film "Asad," which was shown in cinemas during the current summer season and achieved great success. The film starred Razan Jamal, Ali Qassem, Ahmed Dash, and Magdy Kdwan, and was written and directed by Mohamed Diab.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Ramadan is preparing to return to Ramadan drama with the series "Ishmawi," scheduled to be aired in the Ramadan season of 2027, after being absent from the Ramadan race since presenting the series "Jaafar Al-Omda" in 2023. Several artists will co-star in the series alongside Ramadan, while Mohamed Ismail Amin is responsible for the script and Peter Mimi for the direction.
