Netanyahu: We Provided Britain with Prior Information About a 'Bloody Attack' Planned by Iran

Tel Aviv - Afaq News - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with the British newspaper "Daily Mail" published today, Saturday, that Israeli intelligence had conveyed to its British counterpart prior information about a "bloody attack" being planned with Iranian support against the British airbase in Fairford.

Netanyahu added that the attack "was thwarted and prevented," emphasizing that the attack, had it not been for the intelligence information provided by Israel, "would likely have occurred," adding: "We do not know how many British citizens we would have lost."

Netanyahu described Britain as an ally of Israel, but he sharply criticized the Labour Party government led by Andy Burnham regarding its handling of intelligence sharing, saying: "This is a duality that is hard to comprehend."

Netanyahu added that the British government "coddles and appeases Islamists at a time when they are attacking Israel, the state that fights the terrorists and the terrorist regime that attacks it," accusing the British government of "pursuing a policy of appeasement towards its enemies while dealing aggressively with those who defend them."

Netanyahu revealed that he has not spoken even once with his British counterpart since taking office in July, accusing the Labour Party government of "yielding to internal pressures that dictate its position towards Israel."

Netanyahu, in discussing what he described as Britain's disregard for the risks it faces, said: "Churchill called it the slumber of democracies," adding that democracies "slumber while their enemies begin to attack them, until they hear the sound of the terrifying alarm bell," as he put it.

He added: "Currently, despite all this, they have not yet woken up."

When asked about the current nature of relations between Britain and Israel, Netanyahu said: "They are not very good, are they? When they appease our common enemies and attack us, that in itself tells the story."

Netanyahu continued: "We are in a battle. I call it the battle of Britain," adding: "It is a battle of Western civilization against the barbarians. There is a lot of misinformation and propaganda, and they are trying to glorify Hamas and praise the Islamists who have killed British, American, Israeli, and citizens from dozens of other countries."

Netanyahu said in the interview: "We are not the villains. We are a very small country fighting in the heart of the Middle East, not only to defend ourselves but also to protect moderate Arab states from Iranian control and its agents whom he describes as killers."
