Netanyahu requests the preparation of a plan to bypass sanctions through digital currencies: “American aid has ended”

Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he requested the preparation of an economic plan that would allow Israel to circumvent potential financial sanctions by using digital currencies and blockchain technology, in light of increasing warnings of the repercussions of international economic measures against Israel.

In an interview reported by the Israeli newspaper Walla on Friday, Netanyahu explained that he is not afraid of imposing economic sanctions, but he acknowledged the possibility of imposing banking sanctions, noting the need to prepare for financial alternatives.

Netanyahu said that Israel will not continue to receive American aid, which he described as tens of billions of dollars allocated to the defense budget, adding: “America has changed. This is over, and it will end. It is a matter of time.”

When asked about the possibility of using digital currencies to bypass sanctions, Netanyahu confirmed that he was working on this option, explaining that he had asked for a plan to be prepared, and that blockchain technology represented “certainly one of the possible alternatives.”

His statements come amid Israeli economic warnings about the expanding scope of international measures, especially after British and European moves related to the settlements, and discussions about imposing measures on companies and individuals associated with them.

For his part, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid criticized Netanyahu's statements, considering that they indicate risks to US security aid and the Israeli economy, and warned of possible repercussions that include rising prices and worsening economic damage.
