The coach of the French club Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique, said that the scheduled confrontation with Barcelona at the Parc des Princes stadium, Tuesday, in the third round of the Champions League, will be “close between the two teams.” Despite the close performance of the Parisian club and the “Catalan team,” as he described it, Enrique believed that Paris Saint-Germain would be “the stronger team in the next match” because it would play on its home soil and among its supporters.
In a press conference held on Monday, Luis Enrique said: “It will be a close match because both teams have high individual quality. Playing at home makes a difference for us, we are much stronger here.” He added: "We want to win. In terms of the competition as a whole, it may not be that important, but it is a special match."
Enrique continued: “These are two big clubs with a clear identity, and they are both fun to watch, so we want to make the most of this opportunity. It will be a good match.” Enrique coached Barcelona between 2014 and 2017, and led it to win the Champions League, the Spanish League, and the Spanish Cup in 2015.
The 56-year-old coach said about his confrontation with his former club: “I was a player and coach in Barcelona. I have a close relationship with Catalonia, and I am very attached to Barcelona, but I am the coach of Paris Saint-Germain.” He continued: "At first, I found it difficult to play against Barcelona, but I got used to it. They have very high-level players and a sports team with solid values. However, I want to win on Tuesday. It is a great incentive to face the club that had the greatest impact on my career."
