Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Raghad Saddam Hussein, daughter of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, made a statement on Monday on the anniversary of her father’s execution, and spoke for the first time about the fall of the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. She also published excerpts from some of her father’s memoirs in prison after the decision to execute him was issued. Saddam Hussein says in his daily diary, according to what was reported by his daughter Raghad, on Sunday evening: “The death sentence was issued in a session held on November 5, 2006. I thought I was prepared enough to receive it, but I was not. Many objected to the ruling, including human rights and humanitarian organizations. At seven o’clock in the evening on December 26, 2006, a press conference was held in which they announced that the death penalty had been ratified and would be implemented within 30 days.” "One day."
The former Iraqi president’s memoirs added: “I received a letter from Dr. Shaltout from Egypt, in which he suggested that he appeal to the Pope of the Vatican, but I strongly rejected the proposal, and said: Praise be to God, whatever the cost, for our enemies have been exposed and we ask God Almighty for a good outcome in this world and the hereafter.” Saddam Hussein added in his memoirs, according to what Raghad published: “I am relieved, because I will face my Lord with a solid heart and clean hands, which is what my original radical recommended with truth and justice in the face of falsehood. Saddam Hussein, can he bargain for his neck now??
This is not the Saddam you know. What should I say to my Lord? Tell them before you that Saddam Hussein only appeals to his Lord, and he does not appeal to anyone but Him. May God disgrace the enemies and grant victory to the believers.”
Raghad Saddam went on to quote her father’s memoirs: “A doctor and a translator came after the verdict was confirmed and asked me do I need sedatives? So I told him through the translator: The mountain does not need all these things. God Almighty has given us enough faith that makes us indispensable.
Always and constantly remember your faith. Whenever you feel depressed, continue to be patient, sacrifice, be generous, and strive. Generosity for the sake of honorable principles, truth and fairness, and remember that justice is fairness, not the law.”
The memoirs said: “All the leaders in the prison were original and steadfast in their positions, and if things were shaken among some, it was a natural condition, as not everyone could be at the same level of steadfastness, strength, and determination. The experience was inevitably bitter, and there was a fall, but it was not to the extent that would cause much harm.
Praise be to God, the Supporter of the Believers. I ask God to grant victory to our people and honor our army with soldiers that the enemy does not see. Greet all the good people for me. At the same time, Raghad Saddam said in a statement that she published an audio clip of on her account on the “X” platform, Twitter previously, calling out her father on the anniversary of his execution: “Mr. President, my dear father, today I will not mourn you because you have written, with letters of light, an honorable history and a stand of honor and pride for every brave Arab. May God have mercy on you, Abu Uday, and may you rest in peace...”
The daughter of the former Iraqi president added: “Events have diversified and accelerated on the Arab scene, and the responsibility towards all of this has grown. Today, our Arab region is witnessing many tragedies and dangerous events. The Zionist enemy has made inroads and has invaded the land and people. Therefore, Iraq may go through this stage as well, and it may be more difficult than others,” she said. Raghad Saddam stressed: “However, the awareness of the Iraqis towards their country has become greater, and they will not allow a person or entity to pass their expansionist agenda at the expense of Iraq, and we will not accept an Iraq divided by sectarianism, as this is the most important role that we must all pay attention to in the coming near stage...”
Regarding Syria, Raghad Saddam said: “Today we will not forget to congratulate the brotherly Syrian people on reaching a long-awaited stage. We have heard and seen stories of their horror during the period of the Assad family’s rule. This stage is one of the most dangerous historical stages. You must deal with it carefully and with caution, and the Syrians must not accept what does not befit the ancient history and civilization of Syria, the Levant. Only yesterday the West and the Americans considered that whoever rules Syria today or who manages Its command was (terrorist), and the ISIS members, who were among them, were treated in the worst way, and everyone who believed they were close to them or resembled them was subjected to the harshest charges. Overnight, the matter was completely different, and they became at the forefront. A person or his tendencies may change for the worse or the better. We hope so, but caution in dealing with the new stage is important, so that the people of Syria do not reach more difficult stages.”
