Ramallah - Ofoq News - The prisoner (D.N.) said that the oppression in Damoun continues and is increasing, and the prisoners live with permanent deprivation of their most basic human rights.
The prisoner, who has been detained since February 9, explained that she suffers from “Scapius” disease as a result of the difficult health conditions in the prison, and that she did not receive any treatment for either “Scapius” or the “urinary tract infections” that she suffers from following her arrest and remaining in inhumane living conditions.
The Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners revealed in its report issued today, Monday, following the Commission’s lawyer’s visit to the prisoner, the circumstances of her detention, as Israeli army forces raided, at approximately 1:30 AM, the house of the prisoner’s father and arrested her after strip-searching her.
She said, "She was subjected to insults and screams during her arrest, and the soldiers threw her on the floor of the military jeep. She was prevented from moving until about seven o'clock in the morning, and if she moved, she was severely beaten on her back."
She continued: "Later, I was transferred to the Qaddumim area, where they put me on the ground next to the dirt, and they were taking pictures next to me while laughing and mocking me. They severely beat me in the head and face area and caused me severe pain. After that, I was transferred to Al-Maskobiyya and they kept me there while I was blindfolded and shackled from the afternoon hours until nine o'clock at night."
The prisoner (D.N.) in Al-Maskobiyya was also subjected to a strip search, where the female soldiers confiscated her prayer clothes and handkerchiefs, and she was photographed. She remained for 17 days in Al-Maskobiyya, which she describes as a slaughterhouse. She says: “The cells are like a grave, and the bed is made of concrete and has a thin plastic mattress with no cover on it. They gave us two very light blankets, and despite the cold weather and the place, they turned on the cold air conditioner over our heads in the month of February. There is no source.” The lighting and food are very poor and the conditions are not suitable for human living.
She described the detention conditions in Damoun as very bad. The food was scarce and of poor quality, and the prison break was very short. “During which we are allowed to shower and clean the room, which is in the early morning hours, around five-thirty in the morning. During the break, we are prohibited from talking, and there is severe overcrowding in the rooms, and in each room there are several female prisoners sleeping on the floor.”
She pointed out that the extremist minister, Ben Ghafir, stormed the female prisoners’ section, room No. 3+8, where the treatment became worse than it was after his visit, and about 10 days before the date of the visit, the prisoner’s room was subjected to repression, “as they took us out of the room and put us in a small room, and we were 11 female prisoners. They confiscated clothes and belongings, and a number of female prisoners were isolated and taken out later.”
