The Russian Foreign Ministry renewed its warning today, Saturday, to foreign citizens, including diplomatic mission staff, against staying in or traveling to Ukraine, and urged those in Kyiv to leave the city.
The ministry stated in a statement, "We once again warn foreign citizens, including diplomatic mission staff, against staying in Ukraine and traveling to its territory," also warning against being in Kyiv or near military facilities.
It added that Russian forces will continue to carry out "widespread retaliatory strikes" on military targets in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, in response to what it described as "terrorist acts" carried out by Ukrainian forces against the population and civilian infrastructure in Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry held those who ignore the warning responsible for any consequences that may arise, stating that "full responsibility for any potential negative consequences rests with those who ignore this warning."
The ministry indicated that it had previously urged foreigners and diplomats to leave Kyiv and refrain from traveling to Ukraine, as well as advising those present in the country to stay away from military and administrative facilities.
According to the statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry had issued a similar warning on May 25, 2026, and had sent notes to foreign partners, before Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin renewed the warning during a briefing for the diplomatic corps on May 27.
The ministry noted that a number of countries, including the United States, Britain, EU countries, Norway, and Switzerland, had previously warned their citizens against traveling to Ukraine, pointing out that several embassies continue to operate in Kyiv and foreign officials are visiting the country.
