Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan condemned, in the strongest terms, the continued attacks launched by the Houthis on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and ships, warning of the repercussions of the escalation on the security of the region and the safety of maritime navigation.

This came in a joint statement by the four countries, stressing the crucial importance of ensuring the freedom and safety of maritime navigation, and rejecting any measures or restrictions that would obstruct the movement of ships.

The statement stressed that disrupting sea lanes threatens everyone's security and prosperity, in light of the vital importance of these lanes for trade and the economy.

Regarding regional tensions, the four countries stressed the urgent need to address the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran.

It also called for addressing the dispute related to the Strait of Hormuz through dialogue and diplomacy, stressing the need to preserve freedom of maritime navigation and reject the restrictions that hinder it.

This position comes in light of escalating tensions related to the security of sea lanes, especially the Strait of Hormuz, which represents a vital corridor for ship movement and energy supplies.

The statement renewed its condemnation of the Houthi escalation and the continued attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and ships, in a joint affirmation of the importance of the security of the region and the safety of navigation.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, the statement considered that the Israeli occupation represents the primary source of instability in the region.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan called for the urgent implementation of the two-state solution, in accordance with the resolutions issued by the United Nations.

This position reflects the four countries’ emphasis on the necessity of addressing the Palestinian issue within the framework of international references, in parallel with efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.

The statement comes in the context of quadrilateral consultations between Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan regarding developments in the region and the security and political challenges it faces.

Cairo had confirmed, prior to the quartet meeting in Istanbul, that there was consensus in the positions of the four countries towards the regional situation, noting the importance of expanding the scope of consultation in light of the multiple crises.

The statement’s positions place the security of Saudi Arabia and the safety of maritime navigation, in addition to reducing regional escalation and resolving the Palestinian issue, at the forefront of the issues addressed in the consultations between the four countries.
