While thousands of singer Fadel Shaker's fans are anticipating his concert this evening in Riyadh, after an absence of about 14 years, during the past hours, scenes of preparations for the anticipated concert have spread widely on social networking sites.

Shaker appeared on stage preparing for his first concert in Riyadh after many years of absence, accompanied by his son Muhammad. Shaker, whose real name is Fadl Shamdar, appeared alongside his son, singing some of his songs together.

He also appeared in one of the clips hugging Muhammad, who carried his flag throughout his absence, and who also has a charming voice.

The head of the Saudi Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, had previously announced in a post on his “X” account that Shaker would return after a long absence to the Abu Bakr Salem Theater as part of the Riyadh Season concerts. He wrote: “Many asked about him, and many waited for his return... The great artist Fadel Shaker will meet his fans from Riyadh after a long absence at the Abu Bakr Salem Theater” next October 22.

This concert, which is expected by a large audience of Shaker fans, comes after the Lebanese judiciary agreed last July to release the famous artist in 4 cases brought against him, most notably the so-called “Abra File”, in exchange for financial bail, 9 months after his arrest. He also lifted the travel ban on him, and handed over his passport.

Shaker, who was born to a Lebanese father and a Palestinian mother, is considered one of the most famous singers over the past three decades in the Arab world. He was known for his romantic works and the warmth of his voice, before he suddenly decided in 2012 to retire from the arts.
