Suez Canal: Sudden Technical Failure in the Engines of the Ship 'Glory'.. Towed to the 'Ballah' Area for Repairs

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - After reports of the ship "Glory" running aground in the Suez Canal in Egypt on Monday, the Suez Canal Authority clarified that the ship's engines experienced a sudden technical failure, prompting the authority's tugboats to tow it to the "Ballah" area for repairs. The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, stated in a statement that the authority's marine rescue team "professionally dealt with the sudden technical failure of the engines of the bulk carrier GLORY at kilometer 38, which is part of the northern convoy on its journey coming from Turkey and heading to China," adding that "work is ongoing to tow the disabled ship to kilometer 51 of the canal's numbering."

Rabie emphasized that the Suez Canal Authority possesses "rescue expertise and the necessary maritime and technical insurance capabilities to professionally handle potential emergency situations." He mentioned that "four tugboats were dispatched, led by the Port Said tugboat with a towing capacity of 95 tons, to quickly address the situation and tow the ship to allow it to resume its passage through the canal until it was stopped at the nearest point in the Ballah area for repairs."

The Suez Canal Authority's statement indicated that the ship is 225 meters long, 32 meters wide, with a cargo capacity of 41,000 tons, and is under the management of the Inchcape shipping agency.
