The head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, Mazen Dirwan, discussed with a delegation from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Syria, headed by Hassan Falah, ways to enhance the export of Syrian products, support the creation of external channels for marketing them, in addition to developing programs to finance damaged industrial establishments and support entrepreneurship.

The Union said, in a statement on Sunday, that Falah reviewed during the meeting the program’s work in Syria, especially projects related to sustainable development, energy, environment, climate and governance, noting that work is currently underway on projects to support electricity in Syrian industrial cities.

Falaha explained that the program is working on projects to finance entrepreneurship and provide viable loans that contribute to the restarting of damaged establishments, in addition to preparing to open an academy specializing in exports, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of Syrian producers and supporting the access of their products to foreign markets, according to the Syrian News Agency, SANA.

For his part, Dirwan expressed his appreciation for the program’s efforts to support manufacturers, proposing to allocate a person to be a liaison between the union and the program, in cooperation with the Syrian chambers of industry, which would contribute to delivering the financing programs to their beneficiaries in a more effective manner, stressing the union’s readiness to participate in the work of the Export Academy.

The meeting also discussed the results of the private sector conference recently organized by the program, and preparations for a future conference being prepared in cooperation with Syrian private sector entities.

On June 1, 2026, the Ministry of Economy and Industry launched the First National Conference for Private Sector Dialogue for the year 2026, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, and in partnership with the Government of Japan, with the aim of enabling the private sector to contribute to formulating a common vision for the future of the Syrian economy, and defining recovery priorities and paths to building a competitive and sustainable economy, based on an effective partnership between the public and private sectors.
