Tesla unveils a rocket car that flies and accelerates like crazy

Washington - Ofoq News - The Tesla car parked itself at the top of an upside-down slope, defying gravity as its tires clung to the road. Then she stepped back, heading into her next movement position. It shot back up the ramp and into the air, where four SpaceX rocket engines ignited, gently propelling it to safety on the test track.

Tesla on Thursday evening showed off its Roadster hypercar, a car nearly a decade in the making, which Elon Musk said represents “the culmination of incredible work by Tesla and SpaceX engineers working closely together.”

Tesla officials announced that this marks the beginning of the era of flying cars. During the demonstration at a SpaceX facility in Texas, attendees watched the Roadster perform a stunt in the air and accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than a second.

But don't expect to be able to travel in a flying car anytime soon. Tesla's website shows that the rocket-powered version of the car, which boasts a "full flight system," is available "by invitation only" and "not approved for use on public roads." As for the version capable of achieving record speeds from 0 to 60 miles per hour, it is classified as “limited” and requires payment of $250,000 within 10 days of booking.

Tesla plans to begin production of the Roadster in 2028, Musk said.
