London - Ofoq News - The British newspaper The Guardian reported that Israel is obstructing the implementation of a project to establish an advanced military base in the Gaza Strip affiliated with the peace council headed by US President Donald Trump.
The newspaper reported that in early August, the Peace Council issued its first construction contract in Gaza, assigning the task of building the site to the American company "Arkel International" based in Louisiana.
The project is a preliminary step to establishing an international stabilization force, as the site is scheduled to accommodate 150 international soldiers.
Two months after the contract was issued, Israel still refuses, according to a person familiar with the matter, to allow contractors and trucks to enter the Strip and begin work. The source said: "Israel will not open the crossing."
On the other hand, a spokesman for the Peace Council refused to comment on the report, while there was no comment from the Israeli army or the Israeli government.
The Peace Council was established following the ceasefire in Gaza in October 2025, and is an international body mandated by the United Nations in 2025 and headed by Trump. According to the newspaper, the Council constitutes a fundamental focus in the US President’s claims that he has ended the conflict in Gaza.
The report comes at a time when Trump mentions that the Israeli war on Gaza is one of eight wars that he succeeded in settling, after he included it again last week in a post on social media in which he complained about what he described as an injustice against him by not awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize.
