The Serbian Orthodox Church Affirms Its Support for the Palestinian People and Its Rejection of Targeting Christian Existence

Ramallah - Afaq News - Ramzi Khoury, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and head of the Supreme Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, received a message from Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, head of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, expressing the church's solidarity and support for the Palestinian people amidst the difficult circumstances in the Holy Land.

The Serbian Orthodox Church expressed its deep regret in its message regarding the deteriorating conditions of Christians and other residents of the Holy Land, and the suffering, persecution, and discrimination they face, emphasizing that the suffering of innocents, regardless of their religion or affiliation, is incompatible with human dignity.

The message highlighted the importance of protecting the Christian presence in the Holy Land, noting that the presence of Christians for over two thousand years is an essential part of the region's history and living heritage, warning that any attempt to exclude or marginalize any religious or ethnic group could undermine the social and religious balance in the Holy Land.

The church emphasized the necessity of respecting human dignity, international law, and religious rights, expressing its support for the Palestinian people amidst their suffering, and confirming that it will continue to raise the issue of protecting the Christian presence and peace in the Middle East during its meetings with political officials and representatives of international institutions, and striving to open pathways for dialogue and peace and reach a just solution to the ongoing issues.
