The US Central Command, Centcom, announced that it had rerouted 105 commercial ships as part of its efforts since the start of the US naval blockade on Iran. “Centcom” said in a post on its official account on the “X” platform, former Twitter, late on Friday evening: “As of September 18, US Central Command (Centcom) forces had changed the course of 105 commercial ships to ensure strict compliance with the blockade.”
US Central Command added in its post: “The USS Boxer (LHD 4) is conducting flight operations in the Arabian Sea, as the ship and the Marine unit on board continue to enforce the US blockade of Iran.” Centcom accompanied its post with a video clip showing the warship, with helicopters and fighters on board, participating in imposing the blockade on Iran.
This comes in light of the escalation of tensions related to maritime traffic off the Iranian coast, while American forces continue their operations in the region to put pressure on Tehran. It also comes as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claims that it has “complete” control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Brigadier General Aziz Ghazanfari, Deputy Assistant Commander of the Revolutionary Guard, said that the Strait of Hormuz has become a “source of pride” for the Iranian people, and is now under the “full control” of the Revolutionary Guard Navy, warning that if oil is not exported from Iran, it will not be exported from any other country in the region.
