New York - Ofoq News - The United Nations warned of the worsening food insecurity crisis in the Gaza Strip, stressing that humanitarian aid does not enter the Strip freely.
The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to food, Sofia Monsalvi Suarez, said in press statements yesterday evening, Wednesday, that the continued restrictions imposed on the entry of humanitarian aid exacerbate the humanitarian and food crisis facing the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
She warned that aid does not reach the sector with the necessary amount and freedom, in light of continuing high levels of food insecurity among the population.
Projections of the Integrated Phased Classification for Food Security (IPC) indicate that more than 1.4 million people, or about 67% of the population of the Gaza Strip, are facing a crisis of acute food insecurity.
