The security guard on Naftali Bennett will be doubled to the level of security imposed on the Minister of the Army

Tel Aviv - Ofek News - Today, Wednesday, Israeli media revealed that the security guard imposed on the head of the "Ofek News" party, Naftali Bennett, had been doubled in recent days, against the backdrop of threats against him, to become the level of guard assigned to the Minister of the Army.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the tightening of security measures came after an object-throwing incident during Bennett's visit to the city of Bnei Brak, where a malha hit one of his campaign crew workers, in addition to frictions that took place in local gatherings in dozens of locations throughout Israel.

The newspaper added that the worker who was injured by throwing the salt shaker received treatment, while security concerns surrounding Bennett have escalated in recent days.

She explained that Bennett received a notification from the Israeli General Security Agency (Shin Bet) stating that the security imposed on him due to threats had been increased, to reach the level assigned to the Minister of Security.

Recently, the debate has escalated in Israel regarding providing security protection for candidates in the elections, including the head of the Yashar Party, Gadi Eisenkot, and the head of the Democratic Party, Yair Golan, as both candidates’ parties sponsored their own security expenses.

The newspaper indicated that Bennett, who previously held the positions of Prime Minister and Minister of Security, was receiving the usual security guard according to his previous position, before it was additionally tightened during the past few days.

Bennett has recently been touring various regions in Israel, including the strongholds of the Likud Party, in an attempt to persuade supporters of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to transfer their support to him.

During one of the gatherings that were filmed in Bnei Brak, tension escalated after a salt shaker was thrown at Bennett, injuring one of his female workers.

The newspaper pointed out that reports published last year indicated that the Shin Bet had thwarted several attempts carried out by foreign cells to target Bennett, against the backdrop of his activities related to Iran during his tenure as prime minister.
