Trump publishes praise for his intelligence attributed to Denzel Washington... but the actor denies it

Words of praise passed among the names of celebrities, until they found their way to the account of US President Donald Trump. In its most recent appearance, it was attributed to actor Denzel Washington, before the two-time Oscar-winning star's team denied its authenticity and confirmed that it did not come from him.

Yesterday, Monday, Trump posted on his page on the “Truth Social” platform, a picture of a post claiming that Denzel said that he had “never met someone braver, smarter, or more interested in America” than the US president, according to the Washington Post.

But the response came decisively from Alan Nirob, president of BMK Entertainment, which represents the actor. In an email to the newspaper, he said: “This is not true,” adding, “I have no idea where it came from.”

In addition, Nyrob explained that he did not know whether Washington and Trump had met before.

As for the White House, it did not respond to the newspaper’s request to comment on the incident.

Note that almost the same words of praise were previously circulated as statements by actor Matthew McConaughey and singer Mick Jagger, according to the Snopes website, which specializes in fact-checking.

Thus, the content of the praise remained while its owner’s name changed, until it appeared this time in a post for an account on the “X” platform bearing the name “Red Eagle Updates,” attributed to Denzel Washington.

Trump then reposted a screenshot of the post on Truth Social, spreading the fabricated statement to a wider audience.

By one o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the number of times it had been reposted had exceeded three thousand on the platform owned by the president.

The story did not stop at the words of praise attributed to the Hollywood star; In May, Trump shared another quote attributed to Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana.

The quote alleged that former President Barack Obama illegally made millions of dollars from the health care program known as "Obamacare." However, Kennedy later confirmed that he did not make this statement.

In both cases, the publication was followed by a denial from the person to whom the words were attributed or his representative. As for the last praise, it arrived on the president’s account bearing the name Denzel Washington, and then clashed with the actor’s team’s assertion that the statement was fabricated, while its source remained unknown to him.
