The Military Prosecutor General in the Emirates, Mohammed Hamad Al Mansouri, referred a number of defendants to the Military Criminal Court, against the backdrop of accusations of abusing job authority to obtain undeserved exemptions and exceptions, and tampering with proof of performance of national and reserve service, according to what was reported by the official Emirates News Agency (WAM). Investigations revealed that the accusations include falsifying data, official documents, and medical reports, with the aim of enabling some recruits to bypass the established legal procedures to obtain exemptions or exceptions.
The Military Prosecution charged the defendants, who are public employees and conscripts, with different charges according to their respective roles in the incidents, in preparation for adjudicating them before the military judiciary, according to WAM. The Military Attorney General affirmed, “National service is a duty, an honor, and a responsibility towards the nation, and that preserving the integrity of its procedures establishes justice and equality in the performance of this duty, and protects national obligations from any transgression or exploitation.”
He stressed "the prosecution of anyone proven to be involved in defrauding the performance of service or exploiting his position to facilitate this, stressing that the accused will be held accountable before the military judiciary in accordance with the provisions of the law."
