British King Charles III, in a scene that combined royal protocol and Islamic history, invoked a prophetic hadith about the people of Oman, while welcoming Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, in an exceptional gesture that highlighted the historical reputation of the Omanis and the qualities of generosity and good treatment associated with them.

King Charles III cited a prophetic hadith about the people of Oman, during his welcome in Arabic to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, at Windsor Castle, on Tuesday.

The Oman News Agency reported that an official reception ceremony was held for Sultan Haitham bin Tariq at Windsor Castle, where Charles III was the first to receive him, expressing his pride in this visit, which reflects the depth of historical relations and the close ties that unite the two countries.

During his welcoming speech, King Charles said in Arabic: “As Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, describing the people of Oman: If you had gone to the people of Oman, they would not have reviled you or beaten you.”

This gesture aroused interest, as the king chose to bring up a talk about the people of Oman while welcoming its Sultan, in reference to the place the Omani people hold in historical and cultural memory.

The visit witnessed the exchange of medals between the two sides, as an expression of the depth of the established historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom.

Charles III awarded Sultan Haitham bin Tariq the “Grand Knight Medal,” while the Sultan awarded the British King the “Al Said Medal,” and Queen Camilla the “First Order of Oman.”
