Egyptian artist Yasmine Abdel Aziz, on her official Facebook page, on Saturday, shared a video clip of producer Ahmed El Sobky about the success of the movie “Take Care of Yourself,” and thanked him, but she reminded him, in return, that he was not enthusiastic “at the time the movie came out,” according to her expression. Even if I don’t know how to thank you or thank you for the revenues of my film?”, referring to Al-Sabki’s talk about the revenues generated by the film “Take Care of Yourself,” especially in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, in addition to Egypt.
Al-Sabki considered this film, which brought together Yasmine Abdel Aziz and Ahmed Al-Sakka for the first time nearly 23 years after they participated together in the famous play “Keda Okay,” as an example of a “successful film that covered its production costs,” during a talk by the Egyptian producer of the artist and writer Abbas Abu Al-Hassan, in an episode of the “Conversations with Abbas” podcast, which was broadcast recently, and dealt with the reality of the Egyptian film industry during the current stage. Al-Sabki pointed out that the revenues from showing Egyptian films in Saudi cinemas have become an essential source of the film industry in Egypt. The success of films in Saudi Arabia on both the popular and commercial levels helps the producer cover production costs and gives him the ability to continue.
In this context, Yasmine Abdel Aziz shared on her official account on Instagram that the movie “Take Care of Yourself”, at the beginning of last August, had achieved 10.6 million Saudi riyals (about 2.8 million US dollars) in Saudi cinema box office revenues within 10 days of the start of its showings at the end of last July. The events of the movie “Take Care of Yourself” revolve in a comedic context around the broadcaster “Alaa,” who “enters into many relationships and leaves the girls he meets for superficial reasons and his fear of commitment,” until he meets, by chance, “Farida,” who seems to him “the ideal slave, but in reality she is one of the largest arms dealers,” according to the official summary.
The film is written by Sherif El-Laithi, directed by Moataz El-Touni, and Lebleba, Mohamed Radwan, and Mustafa Abu Saree also participate in it, along with a group of guests of honor, such as Iyad Nassar, Majed El-Masry, and Karim Fahmy.
