The statements of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich sparked a widespread wave of anger in the Egyptian street, following his comment on the statements of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, questioning the guarantees that Egypt would not attack Israel, and calling on the Egyptians to realize that any upcoming attack will be met with the demise of Sinai.

Smotrich expressed his dissatisfaction with President Sisi’s talk about Egypt’s absence of regional ambitions or its intention to go to war, which prompted Egyptian military personnel to launch a sharp attack on the Israeli minister, stressing that his statements reflect political chaos and miserable attempts to gain internal support.

In exclusive statements to Al-Arabiya.net and Al-Hadath.net, Major General Staff Osama Mahmoud Kabir, a lecturer at the Command and Staff College at the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies, confirmed that it is not surprising that such statements would be issued by a person who has proven, according to his description, his lack of awareness of matters of politics, national security, and the ABCs of formulating political discourse.

The military lecturer explained that Smotrich is speaking again in a way that leaves no room for doubt, in his opinion, that he is not aware of what is coming out of his tongue, and does not understand the balanced political discourse issued by the Egyptian political leadership.

He added that what Smotrich is trying to achieve through these statements, which only evoke a mixture of pity and nausea, is merely a weak and fragile attempt to mobilize internal Israeli public opinion to stabilize the pillars of the current right-wing government, nothing more and nothing less.

For his part, Brigadier General Ahmed Badr, a specialist in security and strategic affairs, stressed in exclusive statements to Al Arabiya.net and Al Hadath.net that Smotrich’s statements come within the framework of propaganda with an electoral purpose.

To clarify the facts and the status quo, Badr stressed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s position is based on the fact that Sinai is completely subject to Egyptian sovereignty, and that the Egyptian army protects and does not attack, and that there is no intention or plan to attack Israel, pointing out that the October War decided the final say on this matter.

Badr continued that the Egyptian army today possesses high combat capabilities and tremendous firepower to repel any aggression in various strategic directions, and to deter anyone who dares to harm Egypt’s security.

He pointed out that the Egyptian Armed Forces possess very advanced technology in various military fields, giving them the ability to confront potential threats and eliminate any aggression in a few seconds, thanks to the unconventional capabilities and capabilities they possess.

Brigadier General Ahmed Badr concluded his statements by pointing out that the Egyptian political leadership, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has been in power since 2014, and if there had been any aggressive intentions, the past years would have been enough to show them, explaining that previous Egyptian positions are the best evidence of the sincerity of the leadership.

He stressed that developing the Egyptian army's armament is a legitimate right to defend the homeland, stressing the established belief that the army protects the borders and does not attack anyone.

These responses come after controversial statements made by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, in which he claimed that he was not reassured by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s talk about Egypt’s lack of regional ambitions, threatening the disappearance of Egyptian control over Sinai if Cairo launched any attack against Israel.

The statements were met with widespread rejection and denunciation in Egyptian and political circles, and were considered irresponsible incitement and a provocation that lacked political prudence.
