Al-Sisi: The Egyptian military effort to defend Saudi Arabia does not target Yemen

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed that the Egyptian military effort is limited to defending the lands and borders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing that this effort does not in any way include launching any attack on Yemen.

Al-Sisi explained, during the Egypt 2026 Forum session, today, Wednesday, that Arab national security is indivisible, and that the stability of the brothers in the Gulf is linked to Egyptian national security, stressing that Egypt will defend the lands of any other Arab country if asked to do so.

The Egyptian President pointed out that Egypt's standing alongside the Gulf states comes as a natural extension of the concept of joint Arab national security, stressing that the Egyptian military move does not extend beyond the borders of Egypt or the borders of the sister countries whose security and stability Cairo is keen on.

In a related context, Al-Sisi stressed that the constants of Egyptian foreign policy since 2014 are based on solid principles, including non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and the rejection of conspiracy policies, which contributes to consolidating the foundations of stability and joint cooperation in the region.

The Egyptian House of Representatives had decided to postpone the vote on authorizing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to send military forces to defend the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia until next Monday, after two sessions held by Parliament on Sunday and Monday to discuss the request.

The Parliament sessions came after the Egyptian National Defense Council decided, earlier, to provide all necessary and possible forms of support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability, and to preserve its capabilities, the integrity of its lands, and Islamic sanctities, during a meeting held by the Council headed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The Egyptian presidency said in a statement issued a few days ago that the Council decided to “stand fully and stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” based on the historical relations and strong ties between the two countries, and out of belief in the connection between Saudi national security and Egyptian and Arab national security.

On Saturday, Sisi called on the House of Representatives to hold an emergency session to discuss his mandate to take the necessary measures to support Saudi Arabia, stressing that Egypt will implement any measure to protect and defend the Kingdom.

The Egyptian President stressed that Cairo does not seek war or attack any party, but rather moves within the framework of defense, stressing Egypt’s refusal to undermine Saudi Arabia’s security and stability, and indicating that any move in this direction requires Parliament’s approval.
