Algeria - Afaq News - Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune confirmed during his regular meeting with the national press that Algeria is committed to its decision to sever diplomatic relations with the UAE, emphasizing that this decision came after exceeding limits.
Tebboune accused the Emirati government of attempting to control Algeria, stating: 'The Emirati oil company was established by us, and now Abu Dhabi seeks to exercise tyranny to dominate us.'
He affirmed the importance of national sovereignty, pointing out that Algeria is 'a pure land for which millions of martyrs sacrificed, and I have no right to sell it to anyone.'
Tebboune also added: 'We welcome those who operate according to the laws, but those who attempt tyranny are mistaken.'
In another context, Tebboune spoke about the rights of the Sahrawi people, asserting that no one can force him to abandon them. He noted that the UN Security Council calls for a solution that satisfies both the Polisario Front and Morocco, considering Algeria and Mauritania as observer countries in this issue.
Algeria expresses its opinion when consulted by American friends, but the final decision belongs to the Sahrawis who are negotiating with Morocco about their rights.
It is noteworthy that Algeria announced on September 10th that it had severed relations with the UAE, giving the Emirati ambassador 48 hours to leave the country, and also decided to close its airspace to Emirati aircraft, with the exception of commercial flights until the end of 2026.
Algeria described this decision as having come after exhausting all means to maintain relations, accusing Abu Dhabi of a series of 'provocative and hostile actions.'
