- Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Nepal, also known as Lukla, is a major access point to the peaks and trails of the Himalayas. Despite attracting large numbers of tourists and adventurers annually, it remains on the list of the world's most dangerous airports.
American traveler Lauren Brady, who traveled through the airport last spring, explained that its runway is very short and steeply inclined, meaning that the plane lands uphill and takes off downhill towards the edge of the mountain. The airport's location among the mountain peaks, along with weather fluctuations, poses additional challenges for pilots on every flight.
Although Brady travels frequently, this experience was completely different from anything she had encountered before. She said in an interview with Arabic Afaq News: "The flight through the airport was one of the most anxiety-inducing stages for me..
When looking out the window, the mountains seem very close, as if you could touch them."
