An alleged video of a “Houthi attack on Riyadh Airport”.. This is its truth

A video clip spread on social media showing scenes of the effects of Houthi strikes on Riyadh Airport recently, in light of the group’s attacks on Saudi Arabia. The video depicts a massive fire accompanied by thick smoke, and has since circulated hundreds of thousands of views on the X platform alone.

The publishers of the clip claimed that it showed Riyadh Airport after Houthi attacks, and it was accompanied by a misleading description saying that the footage was of "Riyadh Airport after the Haidariya strikes by the Yemeni forces." When we split the video into still shots and used a reverse search, we found that the video dates back to the Sadovod market fire in Moscow in June 2026.

Then the market was attacked by a Ukrainian drone. It can be seen that there are signs written in Russian, such as "САДОВОД".

A reverse search showed a copy of the video in a LinkedIn post last June. Footage similar to what the video showed on June 18 is available.

Accounts whose posts expressed support for the Houthis re-promoted the video in conjunction with the group’s announcement of attacks against Saudi Arabia. At a time, no official statements were issued confirming the validity of what the prosecution reported about the video.

The Iranian-backed group announced on Saturday that it had carried out attacks against “sensitive targets” in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in addition to targeting the Aramco company in the coastal city of Yanbu on the Red Sea, west of the kingdom. On the other hand, the official spokesman for the coalition in Yemen, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, said that the Saudi air defenses succeeded, at dawn on Saturday, in intercepting and destroying a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards the city of Riyadh.
