Anwar Gargash After the "Fly Dubai" Incident: The UAE is a Fortress Against Extremism and Terrorism

- Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the UAE, wrote on his account on the X platform on Wednesday, commenting on the incident involving the "Fly Dubai" plane that was heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv before making an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia amid reports of an attempted hijacking. Gargash stated: "The UAE will remain a beacon of tolerance and a fortress against extremism and terrorism, a force that creates positive change in the region."

The General Civil Aviation Authority in the UAE announced in a statement on Wednesday that Fly Dubai flight FZ1073, which was headed from Dubai International Airport to Ben Gurion International Airport on September 30, 2026, experienced a security incident that was brought under control, necessitating the diversion of the aircraft and an emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia." The statement continued: "The incident resulted in injuries to some crew members, who were transported to the hospital for necessary care in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the authority confirms that the safety and security of passengers and crew members are its top priorities."

The authority clarified that "the teams responsible for the investigation are continuing their work in coordination with the relevant authorities to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident, including reviewing operational and security aspects." For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the incident, stating that one of the pilots stabbed his colleague and likely attempted to destroy the aircraft, which had mostly Israeli passengers.

It is noteworthy that Dubai has become one of the most popular international destinations for Israelis in recent years, thanks to the normalization of relations between Israel and the UAE in 2020 under the "Abraham Accords."
