In light of the mutual accusations and exchanges between them on social media, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt announced a two-month ban on the appearances of both presenters Riham Said and Yasmin El Khatib.

The council issued a statement today, Thursday, announcing that its members, chaired by Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, approved the recommendations of the Complaints Committee to obligate all media outlets subject to the provisions of Law No. 180 of 2018 to prevent the appearances of the two famous presenters Riham Said and Yasmin El Khatib for two months, following an investigation into the mutual complaints submitted by each of them.

The statement added that the General Administration for Monitoring at the council observed exchanges between the two presenters via their accounts on social media, which do not align with societal values, standards, and the professional principles governing media work.

The council emphasized that professional responsibility is not limited to what the media professional presents through various media outlets, but also extends to what they publish or circulate through their social media accounts, considering it part of the public domain that requires adherence to professional rules and respect for the nature of media work, along with the regulations it imposes on discourse and behavior, in order to maintain the profession's status and respect from the audience.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time for both Riham Said and Yasmin El Khatib, as they have been suspended in previous times due to controversial societal issues.

In May of last year, the management of the "Al-Nahar" channel network decided to withdraw the last episodes of the program "Sabaya Al-Khayr" hosted by Riham Said and delete them from all its digital platforms, following the varying controversy and widespread reactions that the episode "Street Dogs" provoked.

In October 2024, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation announced the suspension of the program "Sabaya" on the "Hi" channel, hosted by Riham Said, for two months and a fine of one hundred thousand Egyptian pounds, along with a warning to the channel not to continue presenting content that incites violations of private life and distorts the image of society.

In 2024, the presenter Yasmin El Khatib sparked a storm of criticism after hosting the Egyptian blogger Hadeer Abdel Razek, which prompted the Supreme Council for Media Regulation at the time to decide to suspend the program "Tea with Yasmin" on Al-Nahar channel for six months and fine her 200,000 Egyptian pounds, along with a warning for violating media codes and standards, legal and ethical values, and behavioral norms, and for violating the regulations that preserve the media's status and role as a soft power that spreads awareness and protects society from all forms of deviation.
