Before Bizekchian's Arrival.. Washington Denies Visas for His Iranian Delegation

The United States has refused to grant entry visas to several members of the high-level delegation and the accompanying media team of Iranian President Masoud Beizakchian to participate in the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York.

For his part, a member of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly's presidency, Abbas Rashidi, stated that the visa rejection decision aims to "reduce the space for Iranian media coverage" during the General Assembly meetings, considering that the Iranian president's presence in New York represents an opportunity to present the Iranian position and communicate with countries in the region and the world.

Rashidi also added that preventing journalists or reducing the number of delegation members will not prevent the transmission of what he described as "facts and news" from New York, noting that his country will raise the issue during the United Nations meetings, according to the IRNA news agency.

Additionally, the Iranian official described the action as part of a "media boycott" alongside the economic and military sanctions imposed on Iran, considering that Washington seeks through it to limit the coverage coming from Tehran.

As Tehran prepares to send its delegation to New York, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left Tehran on Sunday evening, heading to the General Assembly meetings, with a brief stop in Qatar before continuing the journey to New York. President Masoud Beizakchian is scheduled to head to the United States on Tuesday to participate in the General Assembly activities, where he will deliver Iran's speech and hold meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the meetings.

The visa decision comes at a time when military threats between Washington and Tehran coincide with signals of a possible resumption of the diplomatic track. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he is open to meeting with the Iranian president during his time in New York, while U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Michael Walts stated on Monday that "the door is open" for Iran to return to the negotiating table, according to Reuters.

In contrast, Iranian officials stated that Tehran links its return to negotiations with the approval of its seven conditions, while Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf confirmed that his country will not allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz before meeting Tehran's demands, indicating the ongoing disagreement over one of the most prominent issues related to the war.

On the U.S. side, Trump stated that his administration is considering several options regarding Iran, including economic pressure, military action, or reaching an agreement, at a time when Washington has not yet determined its course in the next phase of the war.
