London - Ofoq News - Britain is investigating a possible Iranian connection to an attempt to place explosives near the Royal Air Force's Fairford base, which the US military uses in its war on Tehran.
British media reported on Monday that police were summoned to the Royal Air Force's Fairford base in southwest England in the early hours of Sunday, after being informed of the presence of "suspicious vehicles" in the area.
The authorities did not officially confirm details of the nature of the threat or its source, but they arrested five men on suspicion of “planning a terrorist act” and on charges related to explosives, and they remain in detention. Explosives disposal experts were seen working at the site.
US President Donald Trump said on Sunday night - Monday, in response to a question about the suspects, “We were investigating them. They wanted to cause great damage to our base, and cooperation with the British was very successful.”
