The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council in Sudan, the army leader, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, confirmed that Sudan does not intend to accept the ceasefire conditions proposed by the United States, nor to make concessions under any external pressure.
Al-Burhan was quoted by the newspaper "Sudan Tribune" saying: "What we said, we will not back down from: we do not want a visa to any country, nor do we want them to grant us permission," affirming that Sudan will not succumb to external pressures.
Al-Burhan was planning to lead his country's delegation to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and deliver a speech in the general debate on September 24, but the United States refused to grant him a visa.
Khartoum appealed to the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, to intervene, asserting that the country has met the necessary conditions for its delegation to participate in the session.
Ultimately, Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem headed the Sudanese delegation in New York. According to Reuters, Washington conditioned granting Al-Burhan a visa to enter the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly on his acceptance of an unconditional ceasefire for 90 days, which was proposed by the United States.
The plan was presented by the Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, and Al-Burhan rejected this condition.
According to Al-Burhan, the goal of the government forces remains to defeat the rebel movement, the "Rapid Support Forces," emphasizing that the army will continue military operations against this group.
