Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian renewed his affirmation of not rejecting any talks that lead to peace, calling for unity to support this path. Bezhakian said during a seminar to evaluate the performance of the parliament yesterday, Sunday, "We will welcome any talks that lead to security and sustainable peace, and we need unity of word in this path."
He also pointed to the sensitive and dangerous circumstances the country is going through due to the escalating pressures from "enemies and their attempts to harm Iran," emphasizing that his country does not desire war or conflict and considers them harmful not only to its people but to the entire world. However, at the same time, it will never back down in the face of force or intimidation policies.
He stated that "religious teachings call for not rejecting peace if the other party calls for it and it achieves security and stability, but he stressed the need to be cautious of deception, as peace can sometimes be used as a means to inflict harm," according to what was reported by the ISNA agency.
Additionally, he added that Tehran will proceed on the path of peace wisely, and that if it concludes an agreement, it will adhere to it with full responsibility, according to his statement.
These statements came just before Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's trip to New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly meetings, which are expected to start tomorrow, Tuesday, along with his visit to Qatar, which has been playing a mediating role for months alongside Pakistan between the Iranian and American sides.
Bzeshkian's positions also came with the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump of his readiness to meet with the Iranian president in New York, despite his threat that significant things would happen regarding Iran in the very near future, and his hint that he has three options concerning it, including completely destroying Iran, making a deal, or letting it 'rot under economic pressure,' as he put it.
In contrast, Iranian forces warned yesterday of what they called a 'U.S. plan' to resume war and launch attacks on Iranian territory. The unified combat command of the Iranian armed forces stated in a statement that 'Tehran has received information indicating that the United States is preparing to resume combat operations.' They threatened to severely target U.S. interests in the event of such an attack.
