Consultations Between Hamas and Factions in Cairo to Discuss the Elections File and Strengthen Unity

Gaza - Afaq News - A leadership delegation from the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, headed by the head of the National Relations Office and a member of the movement's political bureau, Hussam Badran, held a series of meetings and consultations with several Palestinian factions and forces in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, especially the elections file.

According to a statement from Hamas today, Monday, its delegation included movement leaders Ghazi Hamad, Ali Baraka, Suhail Hindi, and Mahmoud Mardawi.

The meetings were held with representatives of the leadership of the Islamic Jihad Movement, the Democratic Reform Stream in Fatah, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Palestinian Liberation Movement, the Popular Front - General Command, the Resistance Committees in Palestine, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, focusing on the legislative elections and the Palestinian National Council, as well as ways to enhance national unity.

The meetings affirmed the Palestinian people's right to defend themselves, their land, and their sanctities, and to adhere to their rights and national constants, in addition to emphasizing their right to elect their representatives freely, fairly, and transparently in the Legislative Council and the National Council, while rejecting any forms of appointment, exclusion, and monopolization.

The factions agreed to continue coordination and consultation among various national forces and figures, and to work towards ending the division and rebuilding and activating the Palestine Liberation Organization on democratic and participatory foundations.

A unified national strategy was also agreed upon to confront occupation, settlement, judaization, displacement, and annexation, to break the siege on the Gaza Strip, and to support the steadfastness of the citizens.
